Seafood stolen from Mount Gambier butcher

Thieves have broken into a Mount Gambier butcher store overnight, stealing thousands of dollars worth of seafood.

A cool room trailer at the rear of Collins Court Butcher was broken into at 11.15pm on Thursday.Store owner Mick Lamond said the thieves were on foot and a bike, and returned several times through to 2.15am.

They loaded between $5000 and $7000 worth of oysters, prawns, flake and crayfish into bags during the theft.

Mr Lamond said the theft was captured on CCTV, which Mount Gambier Police were currently reviewing.

“We’ve managed to fill all our Christmas orders fortunately,” he said.

“You try and do your best but it’s bloody disappointing when the low lifes of Mount Gambier do this.”
