Service lifts aged care spirits

Husband and wife musicians June and Robert Howie provided the music on Friday for an Anglican Church service in the Diva Room at Boneham Aged Care Services in Millicent.

With June on the piano and Robert on guitar, the congregation sang the well-known hymns “Amazing Grace”, “Now thank we all our God” and “Praise my soul the king of heaven”.

It was a kind gesture on the part of the couple as they are members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

As Anglican minister Reverend Wayne Landford was on leave, the service was conducted by Lay Reader “Fred” Smith.

His wife Robyn Smith led the prayers and Boneham resident and retired Pastoral Assistant Pat Richardson read the bible lesson.

There were 30 worshippers in attendance from various denominations and afternoon tea followed.

Other Anglican parishioners joined in the fellowship along with the Wattle Range Mayor and Mayoress Des and Shari Noll.

The aged care facility regularly hosts church services from the various church denominations.
