Shire businesses shine

Now is the time for Glenelg Shire businesses to nominate their workplace to be recognised as part of a local awards program.

Entries have opened for the 2022 Glenelg Shire Business and Tourism Awards, which celebrate the local business and tourism sector.

The awards include 14 business and tourism categories, including manufacturing, primary industry, small business, health and wellbeing and tourism hospitality, as well as two individual employee categories and the overall Business of the Year award.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Anita Rank said it was fantastic to welcome back the popular awards program.

“We are delighted to once again showcase the diverse range of remarkable local businesses in our Shire as part of the 2022 Business and Tourism Awards,” she said.

“This prestigious awards program provides a platform for industry recognition, growth and marketing for our local business sector. For example, our 2019 overall winners Bay of Whales Gallery have capitalised on their awards success – growing and innovating their business under the ‘Glenelg Shire Business of the Year’ branding.

“I encourage businesses to enter as part of the application process, as well as entering any young achievers or outstanding employees in your workforce.

“This year will be the fourth Glenelg Shire Business and Tourism Awards since its return in 2016. Judging of the awards is completed by Small Business Mentoring Services (SBMS), who also provide mentoring sessions for each of the category finalists.”

Entry is open to all businesses and individuals located within the Glenelg Shire and close on March 25.

Judging, mentoring sessions and interviews will be held from April 4-8, with the Gala Awards Night to be held on May 7.
