The South East will get their thrift on next Tuesday, with Op Shops in Mount Gambier and Penola keeping their doors open after-hours from 4pm until 7pm for Late Night Op Shopping.
The event is held for National Recycling Week and is supported by the Mount Gambier City Council, with participating op shops ADRA, Vinnies, Grantville Court Salvation Army Thrift Shop, Lifeline, the Anglican Belltower and the Penola Op Shop.
There will be a range of pre-loved items in excellent used condition including clothing, decorations and home décor.
Op shoppers can look forward to special offers on the evening, including surprise discounts at the Grantville Court Salvation Army Thrift Shop and the Belltower Op Shop will have a sausage sizzle, drinks and nibbles for a donation and a BYO alcohol licence.
Grantville Court Salvation Army Thrift Shop manager Shauna Wood said she was excited for the evening.
Ms Wood said the event was a great opportunity for people to op-shop after working hours and showcase the thrift shops in the community.
“It’s a great way to re-purpose items and to get people into upcycling and recycling and have a Christmas that’s full of joy instead of expensive things, you do not have to spend a lot of money to bring a lot of joy,” Ms Wood said.
“We’re really passionate about upcycling, recycling and sustainability and affordability in the community.”
Those keen to find more bargains can head down to the ReUse Market on Eucalypt Drive on November 10 from 10am to 1pm.
