Southern Ports tennis juniors back in swing

It was great having Southern Ports junior tennis back after the break.

Millicent was a little short so the side borrowed a couple of Lucindale’s extra players.

There were fantastic rallies in all matches.

George Legoe played his first competitive match and even played in a close tie-break with Ella Crocker, just going down in that one to Jimmy Buckett and Sienna Clark.

Axel Joyce showed how strong he is in the number 1 position for Millicent with a decisive 6-1 win over Paige Pinchbeck.

Lucindale Roos won the day 41 to 23, giving them a boost on the ladder moving into 5th place.

Lucindale Koalas were also at home on Saturday playing a tight match against Naracoorte Red.

It was close throughout the whole morning, with some good matches to watch.

There was a very close 1 and 2 double between Bailey Clarke and Vander Maywald and Toby Drew and Alice Redding going to the tie-break.

Naracoorte Red proved too strong taking the win 44 to 36.

While it was a one sided win to Kingston at Naracoorte, it was played with great sportsmanship and there were some great rallies to enjoy.

The top doubles was close with Jacob and Anna getting the win 6-4 over Toby and Anna.

Toby Longbottom was also too strong in the number 1 spot for Naracoorte Padthaway Blue getting the only set for the day, the rest went Kingston’s way.

The final score was 42 to 18.

It was always going to be a tough day for Naracoorte/Padthaway Yellow taking on the top placed Naracoorte White.

It was great to see Henry Orton back out on court in the doubles following a 10 week recovery from injury.

However, Naracoorte White dominated the day winning all 8 sets.

This did not seem to worry the kids who all enjoyed getting back into competition tennis.

Thank you to Sid Wilkin for filling in for the Nar/Pad Yellow side.

Final score for the day was 48 games to 13.
