Australia Day 2024 will long be remembered by Kate Dutton as she became an Australian citizen on that day.
Her citizenship ceremony was conducted on Friday by Robe Mayor Lisa Ruffell during the Australia Day breakfast at the Robe foreshore.
“It was wonderful to see so many members of our community and visitors turn out to reflect, respect and celebrate and recognise valuable community contributions,” a council spokesperson said.
“This event truly showcases what a wonderful community we live in.”
The guest speaker was Robe Professional Fisherman Association president Andrew Dening.
Mayor Ruffel presented the Australia Day Award winners with framed certificates.
They were awarded to Citizen of the Year Tracey Bainger, Young Citizen of the Year Ella Mackey, Community Event of the Year Robe Golf Club’s ‘Tee Off for Breast Cancer’ and the Mayoral Award to Kerrie Boyd.
