It was a big weekend at the Millicent Golf Club with the prestigious OP Williams Mixed Foursomes event and the monthly medal up for grabs. The foursomes event has been a key part of the golf club’s calendar for around 50 years and is in honour of the late Owen P Williams.
The winners of the day were Janet Watson and Ian Greenwood, who scored an 81 off the stick for a net 63. Runners-up were Lyn Watson and Mark Pretty with net 66.5. Doug Robbins was crowned as the monthly medallist after a count-back with John Reynolds.
The pair both scored net 69. But Robbins edged ahead of Reynolds, who had to settle for the A Grade win. Reynolds finished ahead of Matt Warren in the top grade, while Robbins defeated Brian Thomson by one stroke in B Grade. C Grade went to Doug Lant with net 73 from Stef Pulmer’s 75.
The men’s Thursday Stableford competition was fronted by Graham Warren with 41 points, two clear of Robbins.
A Stableford is on offer for both men and women this Saturday, while a BBQ and course working bee will take place on the following day.
