The South Australia Police (SAPOL) will be undertaking a regional recruitment assessment centre in Mount Gambier next month for locals interesting in a policing career.
There will be testing at the TAFE SA Mount Gambier Campus on Tuesday, March 12 from 9am-12pm and an information session from 4-5pm where attendees will learn about the application process and training.
The regional recruitment assessment centre is a new recruitment process for SAPOL with the inaugural initiative held in Whyalla in December last year.
A South Australia Police spokesperson said SAPOL was progressing a number of initiatives designed to accelerate recruitment.
“One of which are regional recruitment assessment centres to attract, recruit and train regional candidates to undertake postings within regional areas,” the spokesperson said.
“SAPOL recognises for many regional applicants travelling to Adelaide to access the SAPOL recruitment process causes some barriers particularly financially but also time away from home.
“SAPOL are hoping that by making the recruitment process more accessible in the regions it will entice more country applicants to apply.
“SAPOL have been overwhelmed with interest prior to the first session in Whyalla and we having already received positive responses from the Limestone Coast. We hope that continues to build.”
