Stadium upgrade plan

The Millicent and District Basketball Association has called out for support from the community to help fund its project for a new viewing deck and clubroom at Peter Seebohm Stadium.

The proposed building development will be located in the middle of the stadium between the main court and the other two courts.

It would allow spectators to watch the action from all three courts at once from a large viewing area, while also providing modern kitchen, bar and toilet facilities.

Seating is also planned to be included on top of the structure, which could be used as a meeting place for spectators, players, parents and visitors alike.

Millicent Basketball is committed on applying for funding from all three tiers of government – local, state and federal – to make the project happen, but a load of preliminary work needs to be completed to be ready for grants.

The project cost will be close to $600,000 when completed and the association hopes support from the community can help fuel it to fruition.

Millicent Basketball aims for $30,000 to be raised for pre-project costs such as detailed plans and donors will be recognised for their generosity in a number of ways.

Businesses can get their names on a window and chair for $500 and $300 respectively, while individuals can be named on the wall of recognition for $30.

A donation of $100 will allow a family to be included on the wall of recognition.

More than $5000 has already been raised towards the project.
