Music enthusiasts will tune in to the Penola Coonawarra Acoustic Music Gathering at McCorquindale Park this Friday to Sunday.
The three-day event will be filled with music, workshops, jam sessions, open mics, Sunday markets and more.
A line-up of international performers will hit the stage and headline act, renowned Blues artist Fiona Boyes, said she was thrilled to perform and make her first visit to Penola.
“I think the wonderful thing about having the opportunity to travel and play is discovering new places,” Ms Boyes said.
“Sometimes it is the smaller gigs that are really the most intriguing and fun and memorable.
“I play Blues music and I think there’s something about the traditions of that, like a lot of roots music, a lot of the traditions of music is around music bringing people together and being part of the community.
“It is a wonderful interaction and I love to do my best for an audience.”
The talented Marcus Cassells will perform with Indigenous artist Azlan Harris and said he was excited for the Gathering, which he attended as a spectator in 2021.
“It had a really great atmosphere, really laid-back, really engaging audience,” he said.
“It was just a really nice vibe at that festival and I thought it would be great to go back, and being given the opportunity to perform at it is even better.”
The event’s major sponsors are Wattle Range Council, Bendigo Bank and Stand Like Stone.
Students participating in the Youth Mentoring Program tomorrow will perform a ‘Stars of the Future’ concert with a $100 prize for the best and second-best performers, courtesy of Bendigo Bank.
