The South East Street Machine Club will kick of its annual show and shine this Saturday at Hastings Cunningham Reserve.
Now in its 44th running the event, the committee is making final preparations and looking forward to a big day planned.
Committee member Dave Baudinette said the event had a long history of hosting the event.
“The history of the club goes back to 1977 where it was formed and from there the first show in 1978 was held at South Gambier and the show has changed a few times,” he said.
“Since then, the show has changed a few times but every year that it has been on has not skipped a year.
“It has had moves around the local area to accommodate the substantial number of cars and now has found its home at Hastings Cunningham Reserve and has been there for the last four years.”
Mr Baudinette said the club had held the event on the October long weekend for many years to enable it to attract as many spectators and entrants as possible.
“We are looking at over 200 cars that will be on display,” he said.
“If we got more than 200, we will be stoked.
“They will range from classic hot rods, restored vintage cars, muscle cars, speedway display and including motor bikes.
“The SEAC club will also have a display at the event which always gives a different look along with a truck display.
“It is not all about us and we are always happy to promote other clubs.
“We are one big happy family.”
Mr Baudinette said the owners of the vehicles will be there to have a chat about the cars, boats, bikes and even their trucks.
