Suns out, guns out at 75-target shoot

Lake Bonney Sporting Clays hosted its October event recently in hot conditions.

A total of 87 shooters competed in the 75-target shoot and with the sun out for most of the day, they were forced to work hard for each target.

The round sponsored by South West Freight was also a fundraiser for MND and the club donated a cheque of $2000 to Reg Hamilton and also sold $390 of merchandise.

After the shooting began, no one could challenge Chris Wright, who only missed three targets on his way to the High Gun win.

In AA Grade, Gavin Dyson took the win from Danny Bellinger and Malcom Whitehead.

Tony Sellars claimed first in A Grade ahead of Allan Cowin and Mick Brennan.

B Grade went to Cliff Lee after he defeated Robert Summers and Michael Gates.

Sam Hogan shot clear to take the C Grade win with Simon Withers and Michael Smith coming in second and third respectively.

In Seniors Neville Kent claimed first from Ernie Scheidl, while Kevin Dyson won Veterans ahead of Barry Hill.

Women’s was won by Tasha Bellinger from Sonya Vanderhorst and Bec Kober.

The only shooter Juniors was Kody Vanderhorst, while Sub Juniors went to Declan Wright ahead of Hudson Nowak and Harry Bell.

There were two 25’s shot on the day by Gavin Dyson and youngster Wright claiming his first.

The next shoot is Lake Bonney Sporting Clays’ Christmas shoot, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 5 depending on COVID restrictions.
