Super Sunday of Limestone Coast football looms

In the Veolia Limestone Coast Women’s Football League match of the round, South Gambier will take on Penola in what Rex Hunt would call a “yippee yeeha” of a match at Kalangadoo on Sunday.

The Demons are coming off a win last week against Mundulla under lights at Kongorong where they played some great football and made the most of the scoring opportunities up forward.

Penola is also coming of a massive win against Millicent, so both sides will be eager to get the points.

South’s players to look out for are Alice Tentye, Scarlet Creek, Kendall Saffin and Lauren Frost, while for the Eagles, Angela Broad up forward, Emma MacDonald, Amanda Wurst and Shandeen Balshsaw will all be performers.

All in all, this game will be tight and South should come out on top with the points.

In the other game to be played at Kongorong, the home side takes on Mundulla.

Both teams played at the ground last week under lights and it will be a different atmosphere playing this time during the day.

The Hawks played some great football and will hopefully be bolstered by the inclusion of the talented Jade Longbottom who’s “in and under” prove vital to the side.

But under an injury cloud is co-captain Sarah Lucas who could be an omission from Sunday’s clash and her rebound from center half back will be missed.

Hawks to look out for will be Evie Sealey, Jade Longbottom, Kate Wright and Stevie Collins.

Mundulla aims to bounce back from a narrow lost to the top side last week but are coming up against a tough side and this game could be a nail biter.

Mundulla’s better players to watch will be Zoe Hawker, Kelsie Tuner and Kaylene Nuske.

North Gambier will play Kybybolite, which are sitting in second position on the ladder and should win this barring any hiccups in the opening game at Kalangadoo.

Kyby’s superior ball winners and runners will be the key to this match, but North’s aggression should ruffle a few feathers.

Kybybolite’s players to be watch will be Sophie Henschke, Lilly Gill, and Alice Edmonds, while the yellow and black will turn to North Chloe Perryman, Lorelle Walker and Carly Ploenges.

In the last game at Kalangadoo, the Magpies face Millicent in a bottom two team affair and will battle it for a maiden win.

The Magpies are coming of the bye last week and will have fresh legs against the Saints.

Kalangadoo forfeited two weeks ago, so they will be raring to go, while the Saints have run all over the park in recent weeks will hopefully be fired up.
