TAFE SA’s Limestone Coast Graduation Ceremony was a night of celebration and recognition for the class of 2023.
It was also a chance to acknowledge the importance of skills and knowledge gained through vocational education and training.
The prestigious event at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre brought together graduates from the Limestone Coast who had completed certificate qualifications in 2023.
They represented a wide range of program areas including horticulture, hospitality, nursing, plumbing, construction pathways and much more.
The graduates were joined by friends and family, members of the TAFE SA Board, TAFE SA Executive Directors, regional stakeholders and community leaders.
Local Boandik man Tim Brennan conducted the Welcome to Country and the event was hosted by TAFE SA’s Manager, Education Partnerships – South East Region Ally Skeer.
Speakers on the night included TAFE SA chief executive David Coltman and Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin OAM.
Mr Coltman and TAFE SA’s Executive Director – Education Operations Dr Norman Baker congratulated each graduate individually, and former TAFE SA student and new lecturer Katie McPherson delivered a stirring graduate address.
Katie is a graduate twice over, having studied a dual Certificate III in Aged Care and Home and Community Care and later, a Diploma in Nursing.
Katie shared the story of her career progression from aged
care to nursing to educator, explaining how studying at TAFE SA had provided her with the hands-on skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive in the workplace.
Guests enjoyed the chance to mingle and network after the formal presentation.
