Talks held for future rail path development

With construction of the $2.1m Penola-Coonawarra Rail Trail by contractor TFS Civil in full swing, further consultations are in progress by Wattle Range Council staff with relation to the project.

Discussions are under way with the Local Government Association of South Australia and third-party companies for the development of a marketing plan for the rail trail.

Council staff are negotiating with the Catholic Church Endowment Society for the development of the Father Woods Park, Coonawarra.

The land was donated to the church several years ago and features carved wooden statues.

There are negotiations with the Coonawarra Soldiers Memorial Community Club for the upgrade of restrooms in the Memorial Hall as a part of the rail trail development.

Liaison is ongoing with the Coonawarra Vignerons Association and Greenrise Lake Advisory Committee for the coordination with wineries and property owners adjacent to the rail trail.
