Tantanoola tour in history group’s sights

The Millicent-based South East Family History Group is planning an outing to Tantanoola this Sunday, September 11.

It is proposed to visit the Tantanoola cemetery and former Up and Down Rocks Inn, have lunch at the Tantanoola Tiger Hotel and undertake a guided tour around the town to view various buildings of interest.

It will start at 10am at the heritage-listed Tantanoola railway station.

Cars will depart the SEFHG research centre in Millicent 30 minutes earlier.

SEFHG research coordinator Colleen Hammat said Tantanoola resident Robert Randall was assisting with the planning of the tour.

She said Mr Randall had drawn up a map outlining key places in the township such as private quarries and past shops.
