Tech exhibit sparks interest

Acutting-edge technology-based exhibition has opened at Mount Gambier’s Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre.

Experimenta, one of Australia’s leading organisations presenting technology-based art, has brought its most ambitious international triennial to date to Mount Gambier.

Experimenta Life Forms: International Triennial of Media Art is a timely exploration of our changing notions and understandings of life forms.

Centre manager Diana Warnes said the exhibition would inspire audiences through a showcase of emerging artforms, including robotics, bio-art, screen-based works, installations, participatory and generative art.

“This exhibition is an ambitious undertaking for the Riddoch, pushing our 19th century exhibition space into the 21st century,” she said.

“Thought-provoking and visually arresting, Life Forms presents a rich offer for audiences.

“Audiences can expect a boundary-pushing experience, with works providing a springboard into deeper discussions about the evolving landscape of ‘life forms’ and redefining what art can be.

“Featuring established and emerging contemporary artists who work with technology in unexpected ways, the exhibition presents a collection of engaging and immersive artworks, including interactive installations and large-scale video works.”

The exhibition is on display until March 14 seven days a weeks and entry is free.
