Tennis juniors up to weather challenge

Naracoorte Blue d Lucindale Cockatoos 51-28 games

Naracoorte Blue got the win in hot and windy weather against Lucindale Cockatoos.

There were some close matches with Jimmy Buckett just getting the win over Sid Wight 6-4, Max Lush and Ernie Buckett had a power hit out with Max getting there 6-3 and Catherine Buckett just kept getting the balls back to Gus Brooksby to take the win 7-5.

Matilda Lush was on fire only dropping two games for the day and Winnie Schinckel and Celia Bruce had a real close battle all day.

Great effort by all in trying conditions.

Borders 1 d Kingston Lighthouses 37-30 games

Borders 1 hosted Kingston Lighthouses on the lawn.

The Borders came away with the win by seven games.

Players of the day were Jacob and Hudson (KL) who had convincing wins in their singles and doubles and Billy, Paddy, Reggie and Harry from the Borders team who had very good wins in all their matches.

Kingston Lobsters d Borders 2 54-9 games

It was a hot windy day at Lucindale on Saturday morning.

Thank you to Borders for traveling half way to meet at Lucindale.

All matches were really competitive and the scores did not reflect the quality of the games.

Many games went to deuce.

Lobsters were too strong on the day but everyone had a great time.

Naracoorte Red d Naracoorte White 42-29 games

It was another great week again and all games were played in good spirits with Naracoorte Red coming out on top.

Naracoorte Yellow d Naracoorte Green 53-35 games

Saturday was our first hot morning for tennis this season and all the kids did a great job playing in the wind and heat.

There were lots of close games in the doubles and great rallies.

We played again this week with a full team of eight players.

The Green team came out on top with the doubles wins followed by the Yellow team taking out most of the singles in some great matches.

Annabel Menzel and Charlotte Legoe had a fabulous hit against Austin Brodie and Annika Lowe with the score 4-6.

Naracoorte Yellow were overall winners for the morning.

Lucindale Roos d Millicent 54-12 games

It was lovely tennis weather and it was great to have three junior matches at Lucindale filling the 12 courts.

The day was a little one sided with some strong wins to the Roos, not losing a set for the day.

There was a great tussle between Rylan and Arabella with Rylan coming out on top 6-4.

Sam and Hazel played a great doubles match against Vander and George, succumbing 6-3 in the end to some strong serves and heavy topspin shots.

While the Roos were too strong the rallies and quality of play does not reflect the scoreline.

Thank you to all the parents/players who helped set up nets and we are looking forward to seeing the Roos keep up their winning form.
