Division 1
Uniting v Mount Schank / Mil Lel / Mount Gambier
Uniting will host Mount Schank/Mil Lel/Mount Gambier this Saturday at Corriedale Park for the second round of Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association action.
The reigning premiers looked good in round one with lots of convincing wins across the board while the Mount Schank combined side is yet to step on the court due to having the bye in round one.
For Uniting on the men’s side of the draw the top men of Andrew Van den Hurk and Kobe Cole struggled as they had a tough loss in the doubles that went to a super tiebreaker then in the singles with Van den Hurk losing in another tiebreaker and Cole going down 6-0.
Their strong area came in the bottom of the draw where Jace Maxwell and Mat Stark went undefeated for the day, winning both their singles and doubles matches.
On the ladies side Uniting were pretty consistent throughout the day, only dropping two sets for the day.
If Uniting can get some better production from their top men then they will be well on their way to picking up their second win of the season.
Reidy Park v Glencoe
Glencoe will take on Reidy Park this Saturday at Olympic Sports Park.
Both sides had similar results last week with them both losing 7-5 while also having some solid wins despite the loss.
Reidy looked really good in the men’s doubles with Zane Young and Dane Heemskerk winning in straight sets while Heemskerk also finished the day undefeated with a solid win in his singles.
In the bottom doubles they were just as good with Ben Gaffney and Will Cameron also winning in straight sets with Gaffney also picking up the set in his singles.
On the ladies side they struggled a bit across the day, only picking up one set in the top doubles and besides Bailey Young not looking close to getting the set in the singles.
If Reidy can get some better production from the ladies then this should be a very competitive match up with two great teams.
