Round Two of the KNTFL this week and the great matchups continue.
Kybybolite hosts Lucindale and both sides will be keen to get a win on the board early in the season.
Both had good round-one performances but fell short in the second half of their respective games.
The Roos will go in favourites, but the Tigers do know how to put up a fight and keep it close.
I’d expect Lucindale to get across the line, but a close margin would not be a huge surprise.
Keith hosts Padthaway and the Crows are coming off a strong performance in their victory against Lucindale on the weekend.
The Crows boast some firepower in Lewis Hender, Billy Wade and George Johnson that are hard to stop all at once.
The Lions will be up against it to defend them all.
Padthaway is going to have to be switched on right from the opening bounce and nothing short of a four-quarter performance will keep them close to the Crows.
I think the Crows will record a solid victory at home against a fighting Lions team.
Border Districts and Kingston meet up in the ultimate early test of “where is the team at?”.
Both sides have recruited really well and I am sure both teams are ready to face off on Saturday at Francis.
Kingston was impressive against Penola with their ball movement and quick hands around the packs.
The Saints used this to their advantage to set up great scoring chains from the clearances.
James Siviour and Todd Lockwood looked dangerous any time the ball went forward for the Saints.
The Eagles boom recruits also shone for the team on the weekend in their game against Bordertown.
Ex-Saint Isaac Hewson played well for his new club and will be fired up to get a win against the old team.
Dylan Schoenmakers was a force in front of the goal and will look to do the same this weekend.
Mark Quinn always has a good game, so the Saints will need to be switched on to stop his influence.
This game really does have the makings of a close classic.
I will pick the Saints to get the win after how well they played last Saturday.
“Borders at Francis is not easy though and do not be surprised if the result is in favour of the home team.
Penola hosts Naracoorte and this time last year, the Eagles knocked off the Demons in a big upset.
This time around, the Demons will be ready to turn that result around.
Naracoorte had a solid win against Kybybolite and Naracoorte coach Matt Willson will be ready to get a victory against one of his former teams.
The Eagles struggled with their ball movement against Kingston and no doubt that will be something the Eagles work on and will be better at this Saturday.
Jayden Eldridge was solid in his debut for Penola and I’d expect he will be better in his second game to try and help the Eagles get across the line.
The Demons just look prime to get the win and I’d expect them to pull away late after a strong fighting performance by Penola.
The old rivalry resumes this week when Bordertown face Mundulla.
The Roosters vs the Tigers is always an interesting battle and no doubt this one will produce many highlights.
The Tigers had a solid performance last week against Padthaway, but I’d think they would be working on the mini fadeout that happens after halftime.
The Tigers only managed three goals after kicking nine in the first half.
The Roosters also will be looking for help for Tom Whittlesea who really played a lone hand in front of the goal last weekend.
The team lost by eight points and Whittlesea was the only multiple-goal kicker with six.
If they can find two or three more players to chip in double-figure goals this week, they might be able to take it right up to the Tigers.
I think Mundulla sneak home, but I have got a feeling the Roosters will put on a good showing against them and the margin will be close.
