On a very warm day 24 women took part in a closely-fought Stableford event at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Saturday.

Eventually stalwart Lyn Hudson won on a count-back with 35 points after runner-up Jennifer Van Rijthoven also carded the same score.

Helen Gregory had 33 points to finish third and registered a birdie on the hard 10th hole.

Another Stableford event took place last Wednesday with 37 taking to the Attamurra course.

The weather was fine, but wind, fast greens and tricky pin placements troubled the players.

However, the conditions did not deter Lorraine Stratford, who continued her good form to card 39 points.

No less than 20 of her points were compiled on the back nine, while Gail Stephenson came home with 37.

Stephenson’s round consisted of one four pointer and five three pointers.

Next week’s event will be another Stableford competiton.
