Tributes flow for much-loved Mount Burr club person

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness the Mount Burr Netball and Football Club are grieving the loss of a much-loved player and community member Ann Guyett.

Ann was part of the Mount Burr Club and community for the majority of her life through her parents Sue and Peter, who are still active members. Ann and her brothers and sister were seen at the club growing up in the small, family friendly sporting community.

Her playing career started as a junior, only having time away from the game when studying and having her two children Reed and Wren with loving partner Kim Gardiner. Ann has played the most senior games for the club since records have been kept, playing 295 games of which the majority were in the A Grade team. This is an outstanding achievement.

Ann not only played at the highest level over a number of years but was successful winning numerous awards. She won best and fairest awards in 2006 for A grade, 1997-98 for Under 17s and in Under 15s in 1995. Her awards also include runner up best and fairest accolades in A grade in 2016, 2004,2003 and A Reserve in 1998.

Ann was a respected senior player in the club who led the A grade side as captain in 2019. She was also team manager for junior grades and was a premiership coach for the 13 and under side in 2018 and under 15 coach in 2019.

Ann represented the league at the Country Championships in Adelaide. She was a highly regarded team player whose defensive skills and ability has been utilised in the development of our junior players.

Following in the footsteps of her parents, over the years Ann dedicated her time to the club as a committee member, umpire and coach demonstrating her dedication and commitment to the future of the club.

Ann will be remembered as a quiet, respectful, dedicated and friendly person who always loved sharing a laugh. Her commitment and love for netball at Mt Burr will always be remembered and treasured by all.

Her funeral was lived streamed at the Mount Burr Football Oval on the big screen yesterday, followed by a wake at the Mount Burr Football Netball Club Oval.

“Ann will be dearly missed by the Mount Burr community and the netball and football club send condolences to the Guyett and Gardiner families,” a club spokeswoman said.
