The University of South Australia Mount Gambier Campus was filled with food, fun and live music when students and staff came together for ‘UniVibe’.
UniSA regional manager Ian McKay said those who attended UniVibe enjoyed a great afternoon on campus.
“UniVibe was a terrific afternoon, it really did have a great vibe, it was just unfortunate the weather was not great,” Mr McKay said.
“Everyone who attended I think had a really good time and it was a nice way to start the academic year.
“We have for many years had what we called the Welcome to Campus Party at the beginning of the academic year and this year we re-badged it as UniVibe, which made it consistent with an event that was being held at other UniSA campuses, so there was a UniVibe on all campuses this year.
“It was just great to see staff and students attending and enjoying themselves.”
People enjoyed live music by local performer Jani Naude and food from the Nacho Average Taco Truck and Waffle-Inn.
University of South Australia Student Association representatives Tiffany Lai, Sam Bhattacharjee and Cristine Dagnoni also travelled from Adelaide to attend the event and hosted a stall to increase students’ awareness of what the association could offer.
Mr McKay said UniVibe was an opportunity for students and staff to come together and socialise.
“Get to know your fellow students that little bit better, get to know staff and really just relax and kick back after probably a busy week or two getting ready to start the years and it is just nice to bring everyone together,” he said.
“At Mount Gambier campus we have always really prided ourselves on having a sense of community and a sense of family within our campus and events like this do help build that cohesion.”
