Vaccine hub speculated

Speculation continues about the establishment of a dedicated COVID vaccine hub in Millicent.

The SE Voice understands the State Government has been in successful negotiations with the owners of vacant commercial premises to lease their building for this purpose until early in 2022.

At present, COVID vaccinations are only provided locally at the Millicent Hospital and the Medical Clinic Millicent.

Repeated approaches have been made by this newspaper to SA Health for clarity.

In response, the Limestone Coast Local Health Network issued this statement.

“We continue to investigate opportunities to expand access to the vaccine and we will provide information to the community when any arrangements are confirmed,” the statement read.

The Limestone Coast Local Health Network had previously been negotiating with Wattle Range Council mid-year to use its former Millicent Italian Social Club as the base for the COVID vaccination clinic.

The State Government authority has announced mobile COVID vaccination vans will be visiting Penola, Mount Schank and Tarpeena.
