Veteran golfers tackle Millicent course

Adrizzly morning was not enough to keep players away from the Millicent Golf Course recently with 53 golfers taking to the regional course.

Visitor Ian Darwen from Mandurah in Western Australia put in a strong performance to claim the Division 1 prize with 38 points, Robe’s Brian Foreman placed second with 37 and Alan Schultz of Millicent was third with 35.

Division 2 was won by “Lucky” Lindsay Copeman with a wily 34 from Millicent’s Ian Todd and Blue Lake’s Gavin Sparrow on 33.

The three Nearest to Pin’s were won by John Kamp, Geoff Cameron and Grant Rowe, while Alan Schultz snaffled the Scotch and the Ross Orchard trophy went to Brian Slape and Richard Neale, with players scoring 29 or better receiving a ball.

Two new members joined up on the day and seemed pleased with their outing and the camaraderie that is part of the gameplay.

The next veterans event will be held in Penola on October 10 before hitting the coast at Beachport on October 24.
