Water leaks impact region’s residents

Residents in a Mount Gambier housing estate have been impacted by a series of water leaks in recent months, caused by a suspected faulty pipe.

SA Water has been dealing with the matter along Springview Drive and Carey Court, with crews called in on numerous occasions.

“Over the past few months, SA Water has successfully repaired several water service connections on Springview Drive and Carey Court in Suttontown,” an SA Water spokesperson said.

“Service connections are small poly pipes, which transport water between a water main in the street and a property’s water meter.

“To date, the issue has been isolated to a small section of properties in Springview Drive and Carey Court.

“Given the age of the connections – which were installed in 2016 – and the isolated nature of this issue, we believe a material fault during the manufacturing process has impacted their structural integrity, leading to cracks along the poly pipe over time.

“As part of our repair process for the affected service connections, we have fully replaced the length of pipe from the water main to the curb.

“Importantly, the water main along this section of Springview Drive remains in sound condition.”
