Wattle Range mayor calls for road improvements

Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll has written to Premier Peter Malinauskas and Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis as he continues to advocate for road improvements.

As part of his long-running campaign, Mayor Noll donned a Hi-Vis vest over the weekend and inspected potholes on a number of roads which are the responsibility of the State Government.

“Something needs to change,” Mayor Noll said.

“My letters to Mr Malinauskas and Mr Koutsantonis are in relation to the condition of the state’s regional road network.

“I am advocating for a significant increase to the Department of Transport’s annual maintenance budget to clear the backlog of regional road maintenance and return ongoing funding to a more substantial level.

“Council is also advocating for the return of suitably qualified and authorised Department resources to the region to oversee the condition of the regional road network and provide greater oversight over private contractor performance.”
