Wellbeing centre impresses

Boandik Lodge’s groundbreaking Community Wellbeing Centre and hydrotherapy pool have received another tick of approval, this time from South Australian Governor Frances Adamson, AC.

Ms Adamson visited the facility on Tuesday and said she was “very impressed by the facility”.

“One of the striking things about the hydrotherapy pool is its access for people with disability,” she said.

“Having seen the rehabilitation process in a number of people I know well, I understand just how significant that can be for them and the positive impact it can have on their lives,” Ms Adamson said.

The Community Wellbeing Centre includes an award-winning hydrotherapy pool, fully accessible for all people, regardless of their mobility.

The facility also includes an over 50s gymnasium, and a hireable meeting room, consulting room and community activity room.

Ms Adamson was joined at the centre by Boandik chief executive Gillian McGinty and Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin.

Ms McGinty thanked the Mayor for arranging for Ms Adamson to visit the facility.

“Boandik appreciated the Governor’s interest and her willingness to share a ‘normal’ day for our clients, staff and volunteers,” Ms McGinty said.

“Boandik was able to highlight the focus that we have on supporting health, fitness and wellbeing for people of all abilities in the Mount Gambier community.”
