Under 14 Halls Trophy – Mount Burr v Penola/Naracoorte
The picturesque Mount Burr Oval was bathed in sunlight for the Under 14 match between Mount Burr and Penola/Naracoorte.
Mil Lel won the toss and elected to bat. Some tight bowling by Coaden Taylor 1/5 with 3 maidens and Naga Wright 2/17 saw the visitors off to a slow start.
After the 2 opening batters departed, B.Watson 28 not out and L.Gericke 11 not out put together a well constructed partnership that saw the run rate increase significantly.
Fill in player Apsara Wright 1/19 from the U12 team took the wicket of the dangerous J.Bull (15) who was starting to find the middle of the bat.
Preston Lydeamore lit it up in the field with a direct hit run out.
Mil Lel batted out their allotted 40 overs and finished with a great total of 6/145.
UNDER 17 O’Donoghue Shield – South v Mil Lel
It was a tough afternoon for the South boys batting first with early wickets and slow batting.
A bit of momentum started to pick up with Jed Sims and the Maxwell boys showing some strength soaking up the overs.
The Geary brothers dug in and put on some really important runs for the team.
Archie Milich had shown that he can stand up and change his game to what the game needs and batted really well.
This made it easier for the younger guys in Scotty McBain, Ethan Hunt and Kobe Maxwell to push their side over the triple digit mark after many good spells from the opposing bowlers.
