Mount Gambier’s new Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre will be officially opened today.
While Premier Peter Malinauskas was pencilled in to open the facility, his sudden departure overseas to the UK to “strike while the iron is hot” in relation to this week’s AUKUS submarine announcement has made him a late cancellation.
Keynote speaker Paralympic athlete Katrina Webb OAM will still attend the opening of the Margaret Street complex and deliver two powerful presentations at 3pm and 6pm.
The complex opened to the public in late December, however today will mark the official opening.
The community is invited to attend Ms Webb’s addresses and the City Showcase, celebrating our community and the many organisations that play their part in enhancing our city’s social fabric.
Premier Malinauskas will be represented by Minister for Primary Industries, Regional Development, Forest Industries Clare Scriven from Port MacDonnell, while Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King, Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin, State Liberal Leader David Speirs, Ben Hood MLC and Member for Barker Tony Pasin will also attend.
