Young journalist welcomed

The SE Voice has bolstered the ranks of its journalists, adding school leaver Brandi Miller. Brandi completed Year 12 at Mount Gambier High School in 2020 studying Psychology, English Literary Studies, Information Processing and Publishing and Child Studies.

She is a Mount Gambier local who has a passion for writing and journalism. Brandi is currently undertaking a gap year while completing a 12-month traineeship at Shed 21 in Port MacDonnell.

She plans to study a media degree majoring in journalism at the University of Adelaide in 2022. “I have always loved writing and am glad to have discovered in high school that journalism was the career I wanted to pursue,” she said.

Brandi enjoys spending time with family and friends, live music, travelling and being involved in the local community by playing softball and netball. “I am excited to write for the locally owned and independent newspaper The SE Voice and learn more about the media industry as well as the local community,” she said.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to gain experience in journalism and discover what it takes to put together such a successful local publication.”

Brandi hopes to one day write about crime and go on to become an investigative journalist after gaining her qualification.
