Young stars full of cheer

Mount Gambier’s Purple Thunder Cheerleading recently attended the Cheercon SA State Championships, with successful results.

It was the group’s final competition for the 2022 season.

The competition had 25 programs attend, with 395 routines and 1909 athletes competing over the weekend.

The club took 51 athletes to the competition, which featured plenty of tough competitors.

Purple Thunder’s Starlite team placed first in their division, while Warriors also claimed first place, with the Hurricane group finishing second.

Starlite also finished in first place as Grand Champion – Highest Scoring CheerStars Routine from all Cheerstars divisions.

Warriors were third in Grand Champion – Highest Scoring Novice Routine from all novice divisions.

Warriors finished seventh in the State Grand Champion – Top 10 Highest Scoring Routines from all Grand Champion divisions / entire competition.
