For the Little Athletics Under 11 males on Friday night some terrific times were recorded in the 100m, 200m and 1500m.

Zachary Cutting ran a fantastic 100m race with Samuel Miller, Alejandro Jagger and Oscar Benjamin not too far behind.

Zachary also ran a personal best in the 1500m.

The boys continued their good form in the shot put, with Alejandro Jagger claiming top spot for the night with a 6.04m throw.

Samuel Miller finished the night with a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 3.00m.

The girls Under 9’s topped off a great night in the high jump with personal best performances from Zara Martin, Ellie Perry, Sophie Little and Bree Patzel.

Chloe Bickley leapt the highest for the night with a 0.88m jump while also running a competitive 200m race with Ellie Perry who just got over the line ahead of her opposition.

Sophie, Bree and Zahli Golebiowski all gained a personal best time.

A tight tussle in the Under 9 Boys 200m race was had with Chester McEachern, Lucas Cutting and Hunter Livingston, with Chester crossing the line first by the smallest of margins.

The 100m sprint was equally as good to watch, with Hunter taking the honours this time.

Last weekend, three of our athletes – Emily Lynch, Josh Cameron and Lachie Brierley represented South Australia at the 2022 Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Adelaide.

This event sees the best high school age athletes in the county compete over three days with over 1100 competitors converging on the SA Athletics Stadium.

This was the first event held at the newly upgraded venue, with the host state winning the Small State Title with 54 medals.

NSW claimed the overall title with 220 medals ahead of Queensland with 162, Victoria with 120 followed by SA (54), WA (38), ACT (22), North Queensland (19) and Tasmania (16).

Lachie competed in the Under 15 Men shot put finishing 12th and the Under 15 Men discus finishing 11th.

Lachie is relatively new to athletics and it was a big step up competing at this level. He learnt a lot over the weekend and enjoyed the experience.

Josh competed in the Under 14 Men 1500m, finishing ninth with a time of 4:43.74. This race was held in some very trying conditions on the Saturday afternoon.

The young athlete then backed it up on the Sunday to compete in the Under 14 Men 800m, finishing 11th with a time of 2:17.51, which was close to his personal best.

Josh is an up-and-coming middle-distance runner and competing at a national level for the first time was great experience.

Emily competed in the Under 16 Women 3000m walk and finished fourth with a time of 17:34.13 on Saturday evening in some extremely hot conditions.

Emily was pleased with her placing and has consistently finished in the top six at a national level over the past two years.

Emily said it was an honour competing for South Australia especially in front of a home crowd.

All three athletes were supported by their families and thank them for their support, with a big thank you to coach Sally Taylor who guided them throughout the weekend.

Emily is also coached by Bob Cruise who retired after the 2022 Australian All Schools, without his coaching and the support of the Race Walking Squad in Adelaide Emily would not be competing at this level.
