Zodiacs continue dominant form

Mount Gambier Netball Association players braved the wintry weather on the weekend at Olympic Park.

The juniors were able to play in sunshine despite a cold morning, while the seniors had to brace the harsh winds and rain.

The Under 13B match up between Zodiacs and Intruders was played inside at Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre where Zodiacs continued to be a dominating force.

In the first quarter Zodiacs displayed strength across all areas on the court. The goal shooting duo of Ella Gray and Hannah Bailey proved strong for Zodiacs, with the team up 9-2 in the first quarter and 15-5 at half-time.

Ayla Crowe and Ariana Ebbs provided plenty of support in the midcourt, feeding well to their shooters.

Defenders Alice Vanderlind and Matilda Rogers stood tall for Intruders.

Even though the Intruders team fought to the very end, Zodiacs came out victorious, 23-7.

Zodiacs sits at the top of the ladder with Saints, Hobitz and Intruders following behind.

The A Grade featured a fiery matchup between Amazons and Zodiacs. Amazons shooters Sarah Durbridge and Alicia Byrne and Zodiacs’ Symonds sisters Isabella and Tayla ‘shot the lights out’.

Kateesha Yates stood out on the court for Amazons as she defended the ring against Zodiacs, along with Tilly Dohnt in WD.

Durbridge was a standout for Amazons as she swapped in the positions of GS and GA and she worked extensively.

Amazons held a solid lead at half-time, up 39-16 and were able to continue their dominance into the second half.

Sal Harfull was a standout for Zodiacs in the second half in WA and C where she was able to help Zodiacs offensively.

Amazons proved too strong, running out the game 65-36.

Hobitz still tops the A Grade ladder after defeating Intruders 50-43, with Intruders in second position.

Saints sit in third place after defeating Vicis 70-18, followed by Amazons, Zodiacs and Vicis.
