8-ball cues back in rack after carnival

Mount Gambier recently hosted the 8 Ball Ladies State Carnival, with 24 teams competing.

The carnival comprised three groups of eight teams playing a round robin over two days at the Commercial Club and Yahl’s German Club.

The top eight teams then qualified for the finals on the third day.

Teams from Sunraysia and Broken Hill travelled to compete in the carnival, with other teams coming from the Riverland, Salisbury, Mannum and the South East.

Family members and supporters filled the two venues across the weekend, along with a few curious locals.

Salisbury 1 only lost one game for the whole weekend and played Sunraysia 1 in the grand final, beating the Victorians.

The South East 1 team qualified for the finals and won its first final against Great Southern before losing to Sunraysia 1 in the semi final by a small margin.

Mount Gambier has hosted several of the carnivals during the last nine years.
