Drenthen claims Masters honour

Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association president Robert Drenthen has returned from representing the state in an over 40s competition.

The South Gambier captain Robbie Drenthen was selected for the Over 40s SA Masters team, which competed against Victoria.

The competition consists of over 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s competitions.

The South Aussies had a great weekend as they took home victories in all four age groups.

In the over 40s SA batted first and made 9/238 and then rolled Victoria for 110.

Drenthen made 10 runs in SA’s batting innings and bowled 1/21 off six overs.

Drenthen said it was an honour to be named vice captain of the side.

He said everyone had been a captain at some point and the side took care of itself and everyone was on the same page.

It was the first time Drenthen has had a formal leadership role in this format but he brought with him plenty of experience being a captain for the Country Carnival side and South Gambier.
