The 300-strong Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill Social Club continues to have a mutually beneficial contract with a Millicent service club.
For almost a decade, the Millicent Lions Club volunteers have handled the distribution at set times of company products like tissues and toilet paper to Social Club members.
The local warehouse for the KCA products is at the Lions Shed in Fifth Street, Millicent.
The paper products available to KCA Millicent Mill Social Club members at discounted prices are not restricted to the towels, tissues and toilet paper produced at the Millicent Mill but also imported items like nappies sourced from KCA sister mills overseas.
KCA management has supported this arrangement for decades although the means of distribution have changed over the years.
Profits from the sale of such products means the KCA Millicent Mill Social Club can donate to a range of charities and causes.
In 2010, it was estimated the KCA Millicent Mill Social Club had donated $200,000 to charities as a result of the profits generated by the sale of finished product.
The club has also been responsible for the annual Christmas Party for families at Millicent’s McLaughlin Park, other social occasions, discounts with local businesses and sporting grants /scholarships for the offspring of KCA workers.
The high point of the 2021 Christmas party were two cheque presentations.
The Millicent Lions Club was the recipient of a $3000 to expand its warehouse while the Millicent Mens Shed received $15,000 for its proposed metalwork workshop expansion.
Officials from both clubs were in attendance.
