Drink drivers blow licences

ANaracoorte woman has lost her license after being caught drink driving last week.

At 1.40pm on January 27, Naracoorte police were conducting driver testing when they pulled over a silver Ford Escape.

The driver, a 62-year-old woman from Naracoorte, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.179, more than three times the legal limit.

The woman was reported for drink driving and issued with an immediate 12-month loss of license.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile, a man has lost his license after allegedly driving while more than three times the legal limit.

About 6.10pm on January 26, police responded to reports of a disturbance on Railway Terrace at Beachport, where an argument had allegedly occurred between the occupants of a white Toyota Hilux.

Police located the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 29-year-old man from Beachport.

He recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.176.

He was reported for drink driving and received a 12-month immediate loss of license.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

In other police news, officers alerted the public to two shark sightings at Robe in recent days.

Fishermen apparently spotted a large great white off shore on Long Beach late on Saturday afternoon.

It was last seen about 30m from the shore, 1.5km north of the Steve Woolston Road car park.

On the previous afternoon, a 5 metre shark was seen about 40 metres from the town beach.

As a result, swimmers left the area.
