Shooters set sights on monthly competition

The South East Field and Game Association recently held a 50 target Compak Sporting Clays Shoot at Burrungule Park.

A total of 70 shooters nominated for the first event of the Summer Compak series sponsored by Aussie Disposals, Galpins Accountants, Kain`s Transport, Jeff Olaffsen and Nutrien-Ag Mount Gambier.

Following the January event being cancelled due to a total fire ban, heavy rain greeted competitors as they competed on the two grounds set up by Ken Atkin and his hard working crew.

Leading the way was Leigh Dunn, who shot 49/50 to claim victory in the Gambier Shooting Supplies High Gun.

Jeremy Kent was also in fine form winning AA Grade with 48/50 after a tight battle with Daniel Ashby and Mark Fabris.

Romain Devaud claimed A Grade after shooting 46/50 to outgun the likes of Anthony Sellars and Angus Madden.

B Grade honours went to Frank Kentish after his 39/50 outmatched Simon Withers and Tim Lloyd.

Scott Fleming cruised to the C Grade victory finishing five targets ahead of Matt VonStanke, while William VonStanke defeated D’arci Bell in the Sub-Junior category by the same margin.

Seniors and Veterans were respectively won by Greg Kessegian and Ernie Scheidl, who both won with scores of 44/50.

The Women’s class was dominated by Nicola Harradine with 37/50, while Bernie Peters and Sonya Vanderhorst kept her honest.

Juniors went to Declan Wright after he edged out Kody Vanderhorst in a tight battle.
