The possibility of a public memorial to fallen Lucindale police officer Jason Doig will be canvassed at a community meeting on Monday (February 5).
Commencing at 8pm, the public forum at the Lucindale Senior Citizens Club is being jointly run by the Lucindale Community Economic Development Board and SA Police Legacy.
Brevet Sergeant Doig suffered fatal gunshot wounds from an alleged offender at an incident at a remote farmhouse near Bordertown last November.
SA Police Legacy subsequently received significant donations in his memory.
Two representatives from SA Police Legacy will attend the Lucindale forum as the organisation is keen to involve the local community in deciding to how to spend these funds appropriately in acknowledgement of his service.
SA Policy Legacy president Jodie-Lee Black said her organisation had reached out to the family of Brevet Sergeant Doig.
“We have offered support and discussed an appropriate way to commemorate his life and achievements,” she said.
Between 2008 and 2023, Brevet Sergeant Doig had served as
the officer-in-charge of Robe police and then Lucindale police as well as relieved at a number of stations in this region.
