Opportunity STEMMs from learning

Local Parliamentarian and Regional Development Minister Clare Scriven hopes to encourage local people to be involved in the 2022 SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards.

The awards, now in their 18th year, are a great opportunity for STEMM achievers across South Australia to be acknowledged.

Ms Scriven said it was important for regional people to take this opportunity to be recognised, with the potential to also win cash prizes to further their career in their chosen STEMM field.

“These awards are a great opportunity for regional South Australians working in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine to put their hand up and be acknowledged and celebrated for their work on a state level,” Ms Scriven said.

“Just last year UniSA Mount Gambier General Manager of Forest Research Dr Jim O’Hehir received the UniSA Senior Professional Research Excellence Award, highlighting just one of the many achievers in the region.

“It was fantastic to see Dr O’Hehir’s work acknowledged last year which in turn highlighted the work being carried out by the local forest research team.

“The Science Excellence and Innovation Awards provide another path to recognise excellence and I’m sure there are many other achievers in STEMM within our region, with these awards providing an opportunity for their work to be acknowledged.”
