Eagles get win on board

Home ground advantage helped the Penola Eagles get their Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Netball Association title defence under way by scoring the points against Bordertown in round 4.

The Eagles got out of the blocks early and went into the first break with a 10-goal lead thanks to some sharp shooting from April Possingham and Ashley Earl.

The pair both continued their dominance through the four quarters as Penola cruised to a formidable 30-goal win.

Earl was named among the best along with Tara Millard to get the premiership points, while for the Roosters Isabelle Sneath and Zoe Hawker performed well.

Naracoorte hosted Keith in a close game of netball where the visitors claimed the win by eight goals.

Scores were close in the first two quarters of battle with great skills but in the final half Keith dug in and held on from a fast-finishing Demons to go on to win.

For the Crows Erika Lamont scored 36 goals and had strong support from Mary Watchel, while Naracoorte’s Georgia Gill and Belinda Manser were named best supported by Lucy Henschke.

Lucindale and Border Districts played out another tight game and it was the visitors that got over the line by 10 goals.

Border Districts opened the lead early in the first quarter and the Roos were always playing catch up.

Lucindale was led by Ella Jones and Holly Ogilvie and in the goals Lucy Meyer.

Kelsie Moyle-Read and Annabel Mould were the big performers for the victors.

In the close game of the round between Mundulla and Kybybolite scoring was neck and neck across four quarters of solid netball.

The Mundulla Tigers had some great plays to help Paige Marra shoot 38 goals.

She had great support from Alix Lovering but they could not stop the Kyby Tigers from getting over the line by one goal in a thriller.

Charlee Hodges shot 36 goals and was ably assisted by Montanna Hole under pressure.
