Runner rubs shoulders with champion

Millicent runner Lee Morgan was delighted to have a chance encounter and a “selfie” with a superstar athlete at annual City/Bay Fun Run in Adelaide.

After completing his 47th run between the city centre and the Glenelg beach, he found himself briefly in the company of champion runner Jess Stenson (nee Trengove).

“As we were around the finish line, a female runner asked me to use her phone camera to take a picture of her posing with Jess,” Mr Morgan said.

“I was happy to do so and then she returned the favour by taking a picture of me with Jess.

“I was privileged to be with the women’s City/Bay Fun Run winner and the 2022 Birmingham Marathon Commonwealth Games gold medal winner.”

Mr Morgan described the conditions as “great” and completed the route via West Terrace and Anzac Highway in 82 minutes.

He has returned to training for his 48th run in 2023.

The 12km Fun Run attracted over 15,000 participants and it had been cancelled in the past two years owing to COVID protocols.
