New coach lifts Millicent hopes

Millicent United Soccer Club has announced its coaches for the 2023 season, with the intention of big improvement.

Millicent has struggled in recent years, finishing last in both the A grade men’s and Reserves.

Their women’s side fared better, qualifying for finals however they were eliminated by an Apollo side that would eventually finish runners up.

Mat Grgetic has been appointed senior men head coach, who has taken on coaching both the under 14 and the under 12A.

Coaching all these grades will allow Millicent to settle on a brand of soccer they want to play, and develop the players around it.

The under 14 side finished second last in the 2022 season but with players coming up from a premiership winning under 12 they have the potential to be a contender in the 2023 season

Leading the under 17s side will be Brandon Kimber, who will be looking to plant the seed in what will hopefully become strong senior players who can take the club to the success they have been lacking in recent years.

The under 13s and under 16s junior girls teams will be coached by Lana Shepherd.

The under 16s side will be looking to defend their title after coming from fourth to defeat the minor premiership winners in the 2022 grand final.

The under 13s will look to improve in the 2023 season after finishing last and failing to secure a win.

Millicent are still on the look out for coaches for their senior women, under 12d and Mini Roos.

Millicent is also looking for a canteen manager for the 2023 season, and would love the opportunity to discuss the role with those interested.
