Inter sets early pace

Acommanding display of football had International secure a dominant 6-0 victory over Blue Lake in the Barry Maney Group Limestone Coast Premier League round two clash on Sunday.

The two sides battled it out early with both creating big chances early.

Once the game had settled, International asserted its authority and set the tone for the game with the opening goal.

In the 30th minute, Dan Allwright opened the scoring for International, giving his team an early lead.

Blue Lake tried to mount a response, but International’s defence denied its opponents any clear-cut chances.

In the 43rd minute Federico Pepa doubled International’s lead with a well-taken goal, further cementing control over the game going into half time.

As the first half drew to a close, Allwright struck again, finding the back of the net in the 45th minute to make it 3-0 for International.

Blue Lake faced an uphill battle as the Rangers headed into the halftime break.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with International maintaining dominance, which led to another goal in the 58th minute.

Allwright completed his hat-trick for his fifth goal in two matches, and extended the lead to 4-0.

International’s superiority was evident as they continued to pile on the pressure and in the 75th minute, Matthew Bueti added his name to the scoresheet, scoring International’s fifth goal.

Thomas Weedon then sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute, making it 6-0 in favour of International.

Blue Lake fought hard but ultimately could not match the quality of International’s performance as they finished the game well behind.

International ‘s performance showcased the black and blue as a strong contender in the Barry Maney Limestone Coast Premier League early into the 2023 season.

Centrals v Millicent United
In a dominant display of attacking football, Centrals secured an emphatic 6-1 victory over Millicent United.
Both teams entered the game with high spirits looking for their first wins of the season, but it was Centrals who quickly established superiority on the field.

From the outset, Centrals displayed attacking intent, and it did not take long for them to break the deadlock.

In the 11th minute, Sam Shoemark found the back of the net, giving Gambier Centrals an early advantage.

Shoemark’s goal set the tone for what would be a dominant performance from his team.

Millicent United tried to respond, but Centrals remained resolute in defence, denying its opponents any clear scoring opportunities.

In the 46th minute, Jake Blackwell extended Gambier Centrals’ lead to 2-0, capitalising on the momentum.

The floodgates opened for Gambier Centrals in the second half, with Sam Shoemark leading the charge.

In the 50th minute, Shoemark scored his second goal of the match, further widening the gap to 3-0.

He continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess, finding the net again in the 57th minute, completing his hat-trick and making it 4-0 for Gambier Centrals.

Jake Blackwell joined in on the scoring spree, adding another goal in the 63rd minute, increasing the lead to 5-0.

Millicent United managed to pull one back in the 68th minute through Sam Adie’s effort, making it 5-1.

However, Centrals quickly responded with another goal in the 82nd minute, courtesy of Sam Shoemark yet again, as he grabbed his fourth goal of the match.

The reigning premiers overwhelmed Millicent United’s defence, leaving their opponents struggling to contain their relentless attacks.

Despite the scoreline, credit should be given to Millicent United’s Sam Adie, who scored a consolation goal for his team.

It was a small bright spot in an otherwise challenging game for Millicent United.

The match demonstrated that Centrals is still a strong side after its Anzac Day loss to International.

Centrals’ 6-1 victory over Millicent United will be a good confidence booster going into round three.

They thoroughly deserved their comprehensive win and showed why they are a force to be reckoned with in the Barry Maney Limestone Coast Premier League.

Naracoorte Vs Apollo

Apollo left Naracoorte with its first win of the season as they emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.

Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season after a draw in their opening games, and it was Apollo who seized an early advantage.

Apollo wasted no time in making its mark on the match as in the 15th minute Gay Nay Say Ler found the back of the net, putting his team in the lead early.

The goal provided Apollo with the momentum which allowed them to dictate the flow of the game.

In the 25th minute, Jack Donehue doubled Apollo’s lead, further complicating Naracoorte United’s attempts to get back into the game.

At half time Apollo had the edge and then further tightened its grip on the game shortly after half time.

In the 51st minute, Say Say Wah extended the lead to 3-0 with a well-taken goal.

The goal put Naracoorte United in a difficult position, requiring a significant comeback effort that was potentially beyond it this far into the game.

In the 95th minute, Ciaran Shouksmith scored a consolation goal for Naracoorte United as Apollo let one through having secured the three points.

Despite the late goal the match ended with a final score of 3-1 in favour of Apollo.

Apollo’s 3-1 win over Naracoorte United will undoubtedly serve as a confidence booster as they continue their campaign next week against Centrals, who are also coming off a big

win.

Naracoorte will hope they can find their first win of the season against another winless side in Blue Lake in round three.
