Inter v Apollo
International has sent a message to the competition with a dominant performance over Apollo in round four of the Barry Maney Group Limestone Coast Premier League.
Apollo knew going into their round four clash it had a difficult game ahead but did not accept the lack of competitiveness as International cruised past for its fourth straight win.
The game started competitively with both teams having chances early, International was clearly the more dangerous side though with Apollo keeper Jesse Widdison making some important early saves.
However, he could not keep everything out and in the 18th minute International netted the opening with Federico Pepa scoring his first goal of the day.
Pepa then followed up again quickly in the 32nd minute to give his side the two goal advantage.
Two minutes later International found the back of the net again with captain Christian Cella putting his side 3-0 up.
With a three-goal deficit at halftime Apollo required some major changes to get back into the game.
Apollo was not able to find the answers though, with International continuing scoring straight after half time with a Thomas Weedon 48th minute strike putting his side up 4-0.
Apollos’ defence had some rest with International not able to kick a fifth goal until the 79th minute.
Samuel Bueti’s first goal of the day put his side five ahead with only 11 minutes remaining.
A second yellow card resulted in a red card being shown to International’s Hayden Cutting in the 80th minute, but despite going down to 10 men they could not slow down International.
Samuel Bueti scored two goals in injury time to seal a massive 7- 0 victory for his side.
International now sits undefeated after four games and looks unbeatable so far.
Apollo will be licking their wounds and hope they can bounce back against Millicent in round five.
Naracoorte v Centrals
Gambier Centrals are back on the winners’ list after a disappointing round three loss to Apollo, as they travelled to Naracoorte to take on a winless Naracoorte United.
Naracoorte continued its winless ways for another round after hosting a Centrals side that did not hold back.
Centrals started strong with many opportunities and leading goal scorer Sam Shoemark converted a big chance into a goal in the 20th minute to give his side the lead.
While both sides battled for the next goal it did not come in the first half with Centrals 0-1 up at halftime.
Naracoorte United came out with the intention of finding an equaliser but was unable to as Centrals doubled the lead in the 60th minute.
Shoemark was once again the scorer as he secured a brace.
Centrals controlled the ball well and furthered the lead to 0-3 in the 75th minute.
Leandro Rodriguez netted the ball to secure the win for Centrals and claim the three points.
Naracoorte could not find the net once in the whole 90 minutes with Centrals finishing 0-3 winners.
Millicent v Blue Lake
Millicent United hosted Blue Lake for round four and it was another disappointing performance from Millicent.
Blue Lake came out with the intention of a big win and in the 28th minute got started on the task.
Shar Nay Than scored the opener and set his side in front.
Blue Lake did not score for the rest of the half though and Millicent was unable to find an equaliser.
Meereh Htoo doubled his side’s lead in the 62nd minute, which started an onslaught of goals from Blue Lake.
Shar Nay Than found the back of the net for the second time in the 80th minute to put his side up 0-3 and create a comfortable lead with 10 minutes left.
Blue Lake would not settle for the lead as Gay Ni Hsar joined the scoring in the 82nd minute.
A minute later Shar Nay Than wrapped up his hat trick with a clean strike to finish off the game.
Millicent had no answers to Blue Lake throughout the 0-5 loss and remains winless.
They will go up against Apollo in round five as both teams hope to recover from bad defeats.
Blue Lake will hope to take the momentum of a big win into the next match against reigning premiers Centrals.
