Complete package in Transit

No matter the task at hand, Ford’s Transit Custom van has the versatility to tackle the job around the tight city streets or the open road and is equipped with enough cargo space to keep your business moving in comfort.

The Transit Custom is powered by Ford’s advanced 2.0-litre four-cylinder EcoBlue diesel engine with 125kW of power and 390nM of torque propelling the vehicle forward when hauling cargo to its desired destination.

A number of models are available across the Ford Transit Custom range including low and high roof, short and long wheel base models, a Sport variant as well as long-wheel base models with seating for up to six occupants.

The versatility of the Ford Transit Custom range means there is a van for every occasion and a recent look over the 2023 Transit Custom 340L long wheel base with low roof provided an opportunity to put it to the test.

The smart vehicle design allows for an optional rear liftgate door to load and unload with ease, while dual side load doors make it easier to load an unload from either side of the van.

Gone are the days of commercial van’s being ‘just a workhorse’, with the latest Transit Custom proving to be a powerful, capable and intelligent vehicle packed full of features to ensure the day-to-day business can be met with ease.

Taking the Ford van out onto the open road to put it through its paces made it clear very quickly that – even when unladen – the Transit Custom’s independent MacPherson strut front suspension with variable rate coil springs and single leaf rear springs makes each drive a comfortable one.

Keeping you connected up front is a floating 8-inch centre touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 3 connectivity, along with an integrated satellite navigation system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

On top of this, each Transit Custom is equipped with FordPass Connect, allowing drivers to take advantage of the vehicle’s onboard modem to locate, lock or unlock the vehicle from a smartphone, as well as being able to remotely start the vehicle.

Not only is the cabin comfortable and roomy up front for three occupants, but there is an abundance of storage scattered throughout the cabin, as well as a host of 12V and USB charging outlets to ensure all devices are charged up to get the job done.

A sturdy divider helps keep sound from the rear cargo area out of the cabin, with the back section offering multiple load area tie down points and an integrated load through hatch below the passenger seat to enable longer items to be carried or neatly tuck away smaller items.

The Ford Transit Custom features a maximum braked towing capacity of 1900kg for when you find the need for a bit of additional hauling, with safety features including trailer sway and adaptive load control ensuring these tasks are completed with ease.

A host of creature comforts are also packed into the van, with adaptive cruise control, automatic rain sensing wipers, blind spot monitoring, driver impairment monitoring, hill launch assistance, lane keeping aid with lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alerts, reverse camera with front and rear parking sensors and side wind stabilisation ensuring all the hard work is taken out of the task at hand right from the cabin of the vehicle.

While the Ford Transit Custom is focussed more towards work duties, that doesn’t mean the vehicle can’t be jazzed up with a bit of sporty styling.

With a host of variants available there’s also an option for the adventure seeker or those wanting something a little different with the flexibility to carry additional occupants, or load up the back of the van with mountainbikes or motorbikes or even take advantage of the roof racks to carry kayaks down to the river and make the most of the great outdoors.

The Sport variant’s striking exterior is spearheaded by stylish 17-inch machined alloy wheels, a sports bodykit and unique body stripes and sport decals, as well as a number of additional colours to help you stand out from the crowd. On the inside, the Transit Custom Sport also features leather accented seat trim and a 10-way power driver’s seat.

With stock starting to flow through Mount Gambier’s Barry Maney Ford dealership, now is the perfect time to pop in and visit the team and take advantage of ABN Fleet Discount, with the Transit Custom 340L LWB (Low Roof) model priced from $54,490 driveaway.
