The Mount Gambier Cancer Support Group has had a windfall, after learning its insurance has been paid for through the Community Underwriting 2023 Small Grants Program.
The organisation was awarded $4480 for the Community Cancer Support project.
Willow General Insurance brought the grant to the attention of the local support group.
“When we were made aware of the available grants from Community Underwriters, we immediately thought of our client Mount Gambier Cancer Support Group who requires ongoing funding in order to provide the wonderful support to the local area, supporting many,” Willow General Insurance broker Jamie Hunter said.
The Mount Gambier Cancer Support group helps local cancer patients and their families with financial support.
They help with a broad range of expenses on a needs basis including accommodation, fuel and food vouchers, wigs and medical, dental and school expenses.
Some of the fundraising activities the group performs include golf days, raffles, barbecues, meal nights and business/corporate sponsorship
