Police put brakes on speeding driver

Victorian P plater caught driving at extreme speed

A Victorian man has been reported for driving at an extreme speed in the South East last night.

About 7pm on Friday 26 January, police were conducting mobile speed detection duties on the Dukes Highway at Brimbago, near Keith, when they detected a Toyota sedan travelling at 192km/h in a 110km/h speed zone.

When police stopped and spoke with driver, they saw that he had the seatbelt buckled in behind his back. He was also travelling with two passengers at the time.

Checks on his licence revealed he was the holder of a provisional Victorian licence.

A 22-year-old Victorian man was reported for aggravated extreme speed and failing to wear a seatbelt. He was issued with an instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
