Football SA has announced that Nathan Koopman has joined the team as the Regional Development Officer for the Limestone Coast.
Game Development Manager Jake Brindley welcomed Koopman, a proud local who has been active in local sporting clubs for over 20 years, including football, basketball and AFL.
Koopman has been involved with the International Soccer Club for the past decade as a player and coach, giving him a strong knowledge of the local football community.
“Football in the Limestone Coast is experiencing exponential growth, with participation numbers continuing to increase,” Brindley said.
“The local competition has seen a 12% growth, and female participation in club football has increased by 18%.
“Over 1000 participants have been involved in various programs, including school programs, school holiday programs, and futsal.
Specifically, 1082 participants have engaged in all participation programs and events with 39% of them being female.”
Football SA chief executive Michael Carter said the remarkable growth was a testament to the dedicated work of Football SA, led by Brindley.
“Over the past 15 months, Jake’s management has been fundamental in driving the development and success of football in the region,” he said
“The Football SA Family is focused on developing a strong presence in regional schools and enhancing regional football development, coach education, and pathway programs.
“These initiatives aim to deliver better services, improved opportunities for young boys and girls, and more meaningful channels for positive community impacts.”
Koopman said he was looking forward to continuing this momentum and making a positive impact in the region.
“Coaching is where my passion lies. Being a positive role model to young players is something I want to be known for,” he said.
“I am looking forward to increasing participation in the region and working with all stakeholders to help build a stronger, more sustainable league locally.”
Looking ahead, Football SA anticipates continued growth in the next 12 months, with further increases in participation and engagement across all programs.
The focus remains on supporting a thriving football community that supports the development of young athletes and promotes the sport’s positive influence in regional areas.
